CHICAGO - The UIC volleyball team put two players on the All-MCC second team and one on the All-Newcomer team as the Midwestern Collegiate Conference postseason awards were handed out tonight at the MCC Volleyball Tournament banquet.

Junior Jackie Utz (Chicago, Ill./Queen of Peace) and senior Kelly Colangelo (Chicago, Ill./Reavis/Purdue) were named to the All-MCC second team, while freshman Gina Caneva (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) earned a spot on the six-person all-newcomer team.

Utz, who was named to the all-newcomer team as a freshman, was the MCC’s leader in kills per game and sixth in the conference in digs per game this season. Colangelo was the league leader in digs per game and was fifth in kills per game. Middle hitter Gina Caneva led all UIC newcomers in kills, being used as a stopper in the middle off the Flames’ bench.
