Chicago, Ill. - UIC junior volleyball player Lana Lobdell (Lena, Ill./lena-Winslow) was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending on Oct. 18, the league office announced on Monday.

Lobdell earned the honors with 1.60 blocks per set in three matches last week.

The middle blocker helped guide UIC to a 3-0 record. Lobdell and the Flames recorded sweeps over Bradley (Oct. 14) and Youngstown State (Oct. 17), and dropped Cleveland State in four sets on Oct. 18.

Lobdell totaled at least five blocks in all three matches. The junior registered a season-high six blocks in the win over Bradley.

The Lena, Ill. native not only led the Flames at the net, but she also totaled 20 kills and recorded a .326 attack percentage in 10 sets.

UIC's most efficient hitter of the season, Lobdell currently ranks eighth in the league in hitting percentage (.262) and ranks second on the squad with 0.78 blocks per set.

The Flames head to Macomb, Ill. for a non-league matchup against Western Illinois on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
