CHICAGO – The UIC volleyball team (11-10/4-2 Horizon) travels to Chicago’s North Side Friday for continued conference play. The team faces cross-town rival Loyola (13-6/5-1 Horizon) at 7:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Gentile Arena.
SCOUTING THE FLAMES UIC (11-10/4-2 Horizon League) ... Kelsey Safranek leads the team with 241 kills on the season, trailed closely by Aubrey Sniegowski with 223 (.264) … Janise Dismuke leads the team defensively with 80 blocks, followed by Sara Sternard at 58 … Maggie Strus has earned 332 digs … MaryKate Imrie has chipped in with 858 assists.
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS Loyola (13-6/5-1 Horizon League) … the Ramblers are on a four-match winning streak, defeating Cleveland State (3-0), Youngstown State (3-1), Milwaukee (3-2) and Green Bay (3-2) … Anna Eytchison dominates the squad in kills with 300, followed by Laura Purcell with 178 (.223) … Brittany Brown has dished out 740 assists … Stephanie Kinane exceeds the team in digs with 356.
DISMUKE; DOWN TO BUSINESS Dismuke was selected as the Horizon League’s Offensive Player of the Week for the period of Sept. 30-Oct. 7 … the middle hitter assisted her team to a 3-0 week … she posted a career-high .812 hitting percentage (13-0-16) against Eastern Illinois … collected 13 kills at .400 versus Green Bay … hit at .467 and had 18 kills in the victory over Milwaukee ... holds the two highest hitting percentages in the conference for the season … ranks second in the Horizon League in hitting percentage … named the UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 1-7 … it was her second time earning the honor … posted a hitting percentage of .400 or higher in four consecutive matches.

LAST TIME OUT UIC defeated Green Bay (3-0) and Milwaukee in stunning fashion (3-2) … in an all-around team effort for both matches, five Flames members chipped in with double-digit kills, led by Dismuke with 31 … Strus excelled in digs with 38, followed by Imrie with 21.
UP NEXTThe team stays on the road for two conference matches as they face off against Wright State on the 19th in Ohio at 6:00 p.m. and Valparaiso on October 20 in Indiana at 7:00 p.m. … they then return home the following week for three matches against Chicago State, Cleveland State and Youngstown State on October 23, 26 and 27, respectively.
