CHICAGO - The UIC volleyball team (8-10/2-2 Horizon League) plays host to non-conference opponent Eastern Illinois (3-13/0-4 Ohio Valley) Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Flames Athletic Center.

Volleyball Drops To Eastern Illinois
The UIC volleyball team dropped 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22) to Eastern Illinois Monday at the Lantz Arena in Charleston, Ill. Redshirt junior middle hitter Nicole Allgood (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) earned a double-double in the match as she knocked down 12 kills and picked up 15 digs.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS Eastern Illinois (3-13/0-4 Ohio Valley) ... Abby Saalfrank leads the Panthers in kills with 136 and hitting percentage at .227 ... Marah Bradbury has dished out 316, while Saalfrank has 248 ... Stephanie Wallace has 175 digs at 3.30 per set ... the Panthers' three victories came over DePaul, 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22) ... Indiana State, 3-2 (25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 15-8) ... Wake Forest, 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 26-24, 10-15).

MAGGIE: SHE'S A MUST-SEE Strus was named the Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 17-23 ... Strus is the third-consecutive member of the volleyball squad to earn the honor ... the sophomore averaged 5.88 digs per set capturing 47 overall during the opening weekend of conference play ... in the 3-1 victory over Valparaiso, she had 25 digs ... she then added 22 in a 3-1 win against Wright State.



MaryKate Imrie: GIVING IS RECEIVING Junior setter MaryKate Imrie was selected as the Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 10-16 ... the accolade came on the coattails of being selected to the Tiger Invitational all-tournament team ... Imrie posted 10.1 assists per set average over the four matches to lead her team to a 2-2 record ... in the opening round against the host Tigers, UIC won the second and third sets before falling in the fifth as Imrie tallied 45 assists ... the Orland Park, Ill., native shined in the second match versus Alabama A&M, outperforming the Bulldogs single-handedly in assists, 53-36 ... she then posted 54 helpers in the tournament's third match against Louisiana-Lafayette, a decision the Flames won 3-2 ... the junior added an additional 30 assists in the event finale in a 3-1 loss to Belmont, bringing her four-match total to 182 assists ... Imrie ranks fifth in the Horizon League with a 10.0 assists per set average and serves as the conference's SAAC Vice President along with her role as UIC SAAC President.

DISMUKE: DOIN' WORK Senior Janise Dismuke was selected as the Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 3-9 ... the honor came after being selected to the Chicago Classic all-tournament team ... Dismuke had 29 kills and 12 blocks in the four matches as she helped guide the Flames to a 2-2 record during the week ... UIC defeated Northern Illinois, 3-1 (26-24, 25-13, 20-25, 25-20) and DePaul 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 26-24) ... UIC's two losses came in competitive matches against the Beavers, 3-0 (22-25, 19-25, 25-27) and the second-ranked Nittany Lions, 3-0 (17-25, 18-25, 17-25) ... the Flames led Penn State nearly mid-way through each of the first two sets, causing seven lead changes and 11 ties throughout the match.

LAST TIME OUT UIC traveled to Ohio to face Youngstown State (Sept. 28) and Cleveland State (Sept. 29) ... the Flames fell 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12) to the Penguins, followed by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-14) loss to the Vikings.

UP NEXTThe team welcomes conference foes Green Bay and Milwaukee ... the Flames face the Phoenix Friday at 7:00 p.m., followed by Milwaukee Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
