Imrie Selected as UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week|

CHICAGO - Junior volleyball player MaryKate Imrie has been chosen as the UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 10-16. Imrie was voted to the All-Tournament Team at the Tiger Invitational last weekend at Memphis, posting a 10.1 assists per set average over four matches and guiding her squad to a 2-2 record at the four-team event.
In the opening round against the host Tigers, UIC won the second and third sets before falling in the fifth as Imrie tallied 45 assists. The Orland Park, Ill., native shined in the second match versus Alabama A&M, outperforming the Bulldogs single-handedly in assists, 53-36. She then posted 54 helpers in the tournament’s third match against Louisiana-Lafayette, a decision the Flames won 3-2. The junior added an additional 30 assists in the event finale in a 3-1 loss to Belmont, bringing her four-match total to 182 assists.
Imrie ranks fifth in the Horizon League with a 10.0 assists per set average and serves as the conference’s SAAC Vice President along with her role as UIC SAAC President.
She is the second-consecutive volleyball player to be named UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week as teammate Janise Dismuke took home the award last week (Sept. 12).
