Chicago, Ill. - The UIC volleyball team continues its six-match road trip this week as the Flames travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., to take on Western Michigan on Tuesday, September 13, at 6:00 p.m., before heading downstate this weekend to compete in the State Farm Classic hosted by the University of Illinois.

The six-match road trip is just a part of a grueling stretch for the Flames that finds them playing 16 of 20 matches away from the friendly confines of the Flames Athletic Center. Ironically, though, Tuesday night's trip to Western Michigan marks the first time this season that UIC has played a match outside of the state of Illinois.

UIC (3-6) is coming off a strong second-place finish last weekend at the Chicagoland Challenge, going 2-1 with wins over DePaul and Loyola. The Flames were paced by the strong play of junior middle hitter Ambria Springer, who garnered Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.

The Flames will be looking to avenge last year's season-opening defeat to the Broncos, who are 2-3 this season, but undefeated at home.

This weekend UIC competes in the State Farm Classic in Champaign, Ill., which will pit the Flames against Rice (6-2) in the opening game on Friday night and then either Eastern Illinois (2-3) or the host Illini (8-1) in the consolation or championship match on Saturday.
