JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The UIC volleyball team returned for the second day of the Best Western Invitational at the University of North Florida and started the afternoon off with a 3-0 victory over Troy (28-26, 25-22, 25-23).

For the Flames (4-4), the win marked the first straight-set triumph of the young season. The match featured 35 ties and 14 lead changes throughout the course of the afternoon.

"I was extremely pleased with the way we responded today," said head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. "We had a total team effort and it paid off with a win over a quality opponent."

Janise Dismuke continued to have a strong showing in North Florida by amassing a team-high 12 kills. The redshirt sophomore also led UIC with a .556 hitting percentage (12-2-18). As a team the Flames hit at a clip of .333 for the match, including a .581 mark in the opening set.

Senior Casie Sullivan chipped in with 11 kills and seven digs. Classmate Taylor Szatkowski had a team-best 13 kills, while Epiphany Davis and Dismuke each had four block assists.
