BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The UIC volleyball team continues the 2009 season with tournament play, traveling to Indiana University for the IU adidas Classic Sept. 4-5.

UIC will take on Murray State, Tennessee-Martin and host Indiana as a part of the two-day event.

The Flames are coming off of play at the Northern Illinois Invitational last weekend. UIC was led by Jessica Dalke, who earned all-tournament recognition for her 155-assist setting performance during the Flames’ four matches. UIC’s offensive attack was led by senior Lana Lobdell and freshman Nicole Allgood. Lobdell tallied 47 kills in the four matches, while Allgood chipped in with 43. It was also Allgood leading the defense, tallying a team-high 50 digs at the NIU tournament.

UIC faces off against Murray State in its opening match of the tournament. The Racers enter the weekend with a 0-3 record, after falling to Xavier, Middle Tennessee State and Kansas at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational. Murray State did take Xavier to a fifth set in their match, however, and also pushed its match against Middle Tennessee State to four sets.

Tennessee-Martin will be the second opponent for the Flames at IU. The Skyhawks have a 3-1 record coming into the tournament, winning matches against Centenary, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to open the season. UT-Martin dropped its last decision to South Alabama, with all matches being played at the Lady Techster Home Tournament hosted by Louisiana Tech.

The host Hoosiers will be UIC’s final foe at the IU adidas Classic. Indiana is 3-0 coming into Friday’s matches, having beaten Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans and Houston at the Flo Hyman Tournament hosted by the University of Houston last weekend.
