Volleyball Heads To College Of Charleston Invitational This Weekend|

Chicago, Ill. - UIC volleyball (1-1) heads to South Carolina for the 2007 College of Charleston Holiday Inn Invitational over Labor Day weekend. The Flames are set to kick off the two-day event against Charlotte on Friday, Aug. 31 at 1:00 p.m. CST. This marks the first matchup in school history between the Flames and 49ers.
UIC then squares off against host College of Charleston at 4:00 p.m. to conclude day one of the invitational.
The Flames wrap up tournament play on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Towson at 10:00 a.m. and Winthrop at 4:00 p.m.
UIC enters the tournament on a high note after reaching the championship match of the 2007 Chicagoland Challenge last weekend. The Flames earned a spot in the title match against Northwestern after topping DePaul in their season opener on Aug. 24 in four games.
Sophomore Katerina Hanackova and Casie Sullivan lead the team with 24 kills each, while freshman Taylor Szatkowski owns a team-best 20 digs in two matches. Junior Christin Hunt powers the squad at the net with nine total blocks and has recorded a team-high .242 attack percentage in seven games.
Following this weekend's tournament, the Flames return to Chicago to host Eastern Illinois in their home opener at the Flames Athletic Center on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. CST
