PEORIA, Ill. - It only seemed fitting that redshirt junior co-captain Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) was selected as the CEFCU Classic MVP as the tournament was played in her hometown of Peoria, Ill., as Bradley played host to the event. Sophomore co-captain MaryKate Imrie (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) and junior Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) also garnered honors as the duo was selected to the all-tournament team.

Dismuke, Imrie, Safranek and the rest of the Flames squad are off to a 2-0 record as they downed Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) in a 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 16-25, 25-20) decision Friday, while sweeping (20-25, 25-27, 23-25) Bradley Saturday.

Dismuke totaled 24 kills in her first two matches of the season. She knocked down 10 (.391) in the victory over UNO on Friday and added 14 more Saturday at a clip of .500.

Imrie had two double-doubles on the weekend as she claimed 14 digs and handed out 35 assists Friday, while picking up 12 digs and 38 assists Saturday.

Safranek earned a match-high 19 kills in the win over Bradley, while chipping in seven digs.

UIC returns to action with its home opener against Western Illinois Tuesday inside the Flames Athletic Center at 7:00 p.m. (CT). Fans can follow the live stream and live statistics through UICFlames.com.
