Volleyball Adds Nicole Allgood & Jacqueline Lang
July 15, 2009
CHICAGO- UIC head volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley announced Wednesday, July 15, 2009 that Nicole Allgood (South Oldham, Ky./South Oldham/Louisville) and Jacqueline Lang (Chicago, Ill./Marist) have committed to continue their volleyball careers at UIC. Allgood is a transfer to the Flames’ program after spending her first year of college as a redshirt at the University of Louisville. She retains four years of eligibility in coming to UIC. As a prep, Allgood led her South Oldham squad to four consecutive state tournament appearances and earned three all-state tournament team nods. “Nicole comes from an area where volleyball is very competitive,” Schumacher-Cawley said. “She has experience at a high level through her training at Louisville and she is very eager to play.” Lang is a local product, coming to UIC from Marist High School. She was a two-time all-East Suburban Catholic Conference selection, and was named second team All-Area in both the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune her senior season. Lang helped the Redhawks to a pair of regional titles during her prep career. “Jacqueline is a local kid who has a lot of volleyball experience,” Schumacher-Cawley said. “She comes from a great volleyball family and will be a great addition to our team. She is very competitive.” The addition of Allgood and Lang brings the total number of newcomers to Schumacher-Cawley’s 2009 roster to four, with Kelsey Safranek and Aubrey Sniegowski rounding out the class. “All four newcomers are a great addition to this team,” Schumacher-Cawley said. “They all come from competitive programs, so we are excited to see what they can do here.”
