Cleveland, Ohio - The UIC volleyball team fell to top-seeded Milwaukee in three sets (15-25, 21-25, 23-25) on Friday day morning in the 2008 Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Flames finish the 2008 season with a 14-18 overall mark.

"We played a great match last night," said head coach Nancy Mueller. "Milwaukee is a great team and they came out strong, confident and ready to win today. There has to be a winner in every match and the Panthers did what they needed to do to get the win."

Katerina Hanackova led UIC in four categories with seven kills, 15 digs, two service aces and three total blocks.

Milwaukee's Lauren Felsing totaled a match-high 23 digs. Kerri Schuh recorded 10 kills in the win.

Milwaukee took a 14-5 lead early in set one. Following a timeout, the Flames returned to the court on fire with nine straight points. Tied at 14 all, the Panthers responded to the run with eight unanswered points. Milwaukee went on to capture set one, 25-15.

Trailing early in the set, UIC sparked a 5-1 burst to take a two-point advantage (9-7). Milwaukee bounced back with five straight points, but UIC knotted the set at 13 each on a 4-1 run. Tied at 20 late in the frame, the Panthers recorded another 5-1 run to take set two, 25-21.

The Panthers advanced to the tournament semifinals with a 25-23 victory in set three. UIC tied the set twice late in the game, but the Panthers completed the sweep with a late push.
