Volleyball Sweeps Youngstown State, 30-24, 30-17, 30-18|

Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago head volleyball coach Don August was able to clear his bench on Friday evening, as his Flames cruised to the 30-24, 30-17, 30-18 Horizon League victory over Youngstown State at the Flames Athletic Center.
Junior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd (Kalamazoo, Mich./Galesburg-Augusta) recorded a match-high, 12 kills for UIC.
Filkins pounded home nine kills and finished with a hitting percentage of .400 (9 kills, 3 errors, 15 attacks) on the evening, while Caneva recorded a hitting percentage of .462 (7 kills, 1 error, 13 attacks).
Filkins also led the defensive charge for UIC as she had a match-high nine digs to help the Flames out-dig Youngstown State, 41-21.
With the victory, UIC improves to 18-12 on the season and 5-6 in Horizon League action, while the Penguins fall to 8-19 overall and remain winless in the league at 0-11.
Junior middle hitter Annie Buschur led Youngstown State with seven kills on the evening.
UIC will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they will host Cleveland State at 2:00 p.m. at the Flames Athletic Center.
