Green Bay, Wis. - The University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team put on a stellar defensive performance against UW-Green Bay on Friday night as the Flames recorded 66 digs in three games.

UWGB, however, was a tad better as the Phoenix notched 70 digs en route to a 30-18, 30-24, 30-21 Horizon League sweep over the Flames at the Phoenix Sports Center.

"I was hoping that we'd have a little more offense," UIC Head Coach Don August said. "Our timing just wasn't there, we seemed a step off and we needed to put a little more pace on the ball."

UWGB's Janelle Tomlinson (10 kills, 11 digs) and Leslie Kuhn (34 assists, 12 digs, 9 kills) each notched double-doubles to pace the Phoenix. Amanda Timmers recorded a match-high 11 kills for UWGB.

As a team, UWGB had a hitting percentage of .289 (52 kills, 11 errors, 142 attacks) in the three-game sweep.

With the victory, UW-Green Bay improves to 19-7 overall and 9-2 in Horizon League play, while the visiting Flames fall to 11-18 on the campaign and 2-10 in league action.

Junior outside hitter Jordan Studzinski turned in a solid effort for UIC with eight kills and 18 digs. The Flames also received impressive performances from junior middle hitter Kristi Herrington (9 kills), senior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd (8 kills, 10 digs) and sophomore middle hitter Patricia Graf (6 kills, 5 blocks).

UIC will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they will travel to Milwaukee to square off with the UW-Milwaukee Panthers at 4:00 p.m. at the Klotsche Center.
