Volleyball Falls To Wright State, 3-1
Nov. 1, 2008 Dayton, Ohio - The UIC volleyball team fell to Wright State in four sets (19-25, 21-25, 26-24, 13-25) on Saturday afternoon in its final regular season road match in Dayton, Ohio. Katerina Hanackova and Casie Sullivan each recorded double-doubles against the Raiders. Sullivan totaled a team-best 14 kills and 17 digs. Katarina Nedeljkovic tallied a team-high 22 digs on the afternoon. Lexi Leonard and Becca Awaa each totaled 17 kills and 18 digs in the win for the Raiders. Wright State (13-14, 9-5) jumped out to an 11-5 lead to open the match. UIC (11-14, 4-8) got within three on four unanswered points halfway through the frame, but the Raiders responded with a 5-2 run for the 25-19 win in the first set. Set two was a tight battle. After several ties late in the set, Wright State sparked a late 6-3 burst to take a 2-0 match advantage. Knotted at 24 each in the third set, the Flames recorded two straight points to avoid the sweep (26-24). Wright State held UIC to a 0.07 attack percentage, allowing UIC to record just 13 points in set four. WSU's ten-point advantage (17-7) helped guide the squad to a 25-13 win for the match victory. UIC's wraps up the regular season with five straight homes matches. The Flames open the five-match homestand with a contest against Butler on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
