Chicago, Ill. - The way things have been going recently for the University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team, most teams would have to play a near flawless match to be victorious.
The UW-Milwaukee Panthers did just that, combining a solid offensive performance and a tough defense to pick up the 30-20, 30-27, 28-30, 30-16, Horizon League victory over UIC at the Flames Athletics Center on Saturday night, snapping the Flames' three-match winning streak.
For the match, UW-Milwaukee finished with a hitting percentage of .275, including 75 digs, 14 total team blocks while ending with 24 less attacks than UIC (177-153).
UW-Milwaukee outside hitter Karen Fruit tallied a double-double with a match-high 19 kills and 15 digs, followed by Leanne Felsing (18 kills, 13 digs) and Sarah Moore (10 kills, 7 block assists).
With the victory, UW-Milwaukee improves to 15-7 overall and 9-1 in Horizon League play, while the Flames drop to 9-17 on the campaign and 5-6 in conference action.
Senior outside hitter Jordan Studzinski posted her sixth-straight, double-double with a team-high 15 kills and 10 digs, while teammate Katarina Nedeljkovic narrowly missed a double-double with 15 kills and nine digs.
