Volleyball Rally Falls Short Against Loyola|

Chicago, Illinois - The University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team rallied back from a 2-0 deficit, but they were unable to overtake Loyola, as the first-place Ramblers earned the 30-23, 31-29, 22-30, 26-30, 15-8 Horizon League victory over the Flames at the Flames Athletic Center on Friday night.
Kristen Daly led Loyola with 18 kills and 15 digs, while teammates Shari Davis (15 kills, 13 digs) and Nichol Amberg (14 kills, 21 digs) each turned in impressive efforts for the Ramblers.
With the victory, Loyola improves to 17-4 overall and 7-1 in Horizon League play, while UIC falls to 16-11 on the season and 3-5 in league action.
Junior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd recorded a game-high 22 kills and 18 digs for UIC, while teammates Lara Clarkson (16 kills, 18 digs) and Lindsey Filkins (14 kills, 16 digs) each put in solid performances for the Flames.
UIC was solid at the net as the Flames tied a season-high with 12 blocks on the evening. Shepperd and sophomore middle hitter Megan Hoffman each paved the way for UIC with five blocks apiece.
The Flames were also on their heels defensively against Loyola as the Ramblers recorded 222 attacks on the evening. UIC responded with a team-season high 92 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Jordan Studzinski led the Flames with a 19 digs.
UIC will be back in action on Friday evening, as they will travel to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Wright State Raiders at 6:00 p.m. (CST).
