Indianapolis, Ind. - Junior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd recorded 16 kills to help the University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team break a three-match losing streak and hand host IUPUI the 30-27, 33-31, 32-30 victory on Tuesday night.

With the victory, UIC improves to 16-10 overall, while IUPUI falls to 6-16 on the campaign.

UIC head coach Don August was pleased with his squad's performance on Tuesday, noting that the Flames were trailing late in games two and three.

"It was a nice way (to break the losing streak)," August said. "It was good to see the girls go out on the floor with a lot of confidence and make some big plays."

It was an all-around team effort for UIC on Tuesday evening, as outside hitters Catherine Roy (11 kills) and Lara Clarkson (10 kills) each recorded double-digit kills for the Flames.

UIC also received impressive performances from junior setter Meghan Keck (47 assists), sophomore middle hitter Kristi Herrington (9 kills) and freshman outside hitter Sarah Lang (5 service aces).

UIC was very successful from behind the service line on Tuesday evening, as the Flames recorded 10 service aces to four service errors.

UIC will be back in action on Friday evening, as they will host Horizon League and cross-town rival, Loyola, at 7:00 p.m. in the Flames Athletic Center.
