VALPARAISO, Ind. - Junior MaryKate Imrie captured a double-double with 51 assists and 11 digs as the UIC volleyball team (13-11/6-3 Horizon League) fell to Valparaiso (14-10/6-3 Horizon League), 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 17-25, 25-22) Saturday in Valparaiso, Ind.

Three Flames members posted double-digit numbers in kills, while five players found double-digit digs.

Imrie's 51 assists led all players in the match in the category. Senior Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) posted a double-double as the outside hitter had 11 kills, while collecting 14 digs.

Senior Aubrey Sniegowski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) led all players in kills with 14 at .333, while sophomore Sara Sternard (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Westmont) chipped in an additional 13.

The Flames dropped the first and second sets, 25-18 and 25-23, respectively, before handling the Crusaders 25-17 in the third set of play.

In the third frame, the teams exchanged points, before UIC went on a four-point run, which included a kill by senior Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) to give the Flames a 15-11 lead. From there, the team found a five-point surge to improve its lead to 22-15. The set was capped off with three consecutive kills by Sternard.

The rally fell short as Valparaiso concluded the match in a 25-22 outcome during what resulted in the deciding set.

UIC plays host to a non-conference match Tuesday against Chicago State at 7:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Flames Athletic Center, before welcoming Cleveland State Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Youngstown State Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
