CHARLESTON, Ill. - The UIC volleyball team dropped 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22) to Eastern Illinois Monday at the Lantz Arena in Charleston, Ill. Redshirt junior middle hitter Nicole Allgood (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) earned a double-double in the match as she knocked down 12 kills and picked up 15 digs.

Junior outside hitter Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) had 21 kills at a clip of .152 to lead all players in the match, while redshirt junior middle hitter Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) chipped in eight kills.

The Flames picked up the first set in a 25-22 decision. The squad battled through the entire set, trailing the Eastern Illinois team through much of the match, but the Flames tied the set at 17-17 and continued to improve until the Panthers had an attack error that earned the set for the Flames.

Entering the second set with a 1-0 lead in the match, the Flames began the set in a 3-0 deficit, but the UIC team battled back and eventually tied the set at 9-9, but Eastern Illinois then went on a 5-0 run. The Flames were unable to recover from and dropped the set 23-25 and the match was even at 1-1.

Eastern Illinois then continued to improve and picked up the next two sets to secure the match in a 3-1 outcome.

The Flames return to action Friday in a 7:00 p.m. (CT) match against Green Bay at the Flames Athletic Center in Chicago, Ill.
