Chicago, Ill. - A solid performance guided the UIC volleyball team to a four-set (25-14, 25-11, 21-25, 26-24) win over Cleveland State on Friday night at the Flames Athletic Center.

UIC totaled six service aces, 14 blocks and recorded a .302 attack percentage against the Vikings.

Katerina Hanackova registered a season-high 19 kills, while Katarina Nedeljkovic totaled a team-high 16 digs. Casie Sullivan picked up a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. The outside hitter also led the team with a .455 offensive clip.

UIC dominated set one with an impressive .452 attack percentage. The Flames pulled away with an 11-4 run halfway through the frame to lead 22-10. UIC rolled past Cleveland State in set one with an 11-point win (25-14).

Trailing 10-5, the Flames rallied with five straight points to tie the set at 10 apiece. UIC took the lead and widened the gap with a 10-6 burst. The Vikings got within three late, but the Flames pushed ahead to take a 2-0 match advantage (25-21).

Cleveland State attempted a comeback in set three after the 10-minute break. Down 17-11, UIC went on a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to one point, but the Vikings responded with a 6-3 burst for the win (25-21).

The Flames turned the momentum midway through set four. Trailing by two points, UIC turned up the heat with a 10-4 burst (20-16). Cleveland State recorded three straight points late in the frame to knot the set at 23 each, but UIC answered with a 3-1 run to clinch the win.

The Flames face Youngstown State on Saturday at 2 p.m. The match is designated as breast cancer awareness day at the Flames Athletic Center.
