Chicago, Ill. - UW-Green Bay's Jessie Theys led four Phoenix players in double-digit kills as the senior middle hitter recorded 20 kills to help lead UWGB to the 27-30, 30-20, 30-19, 30-27 Horizon League victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Flames Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
UW-Green Bay's Janelle Tomlinson chipped in 19 kills and 11digs for the Phoenix, while teammates Krystle Lange (13 digs) and Amanda Timmers each added 10 kills in the victory. Junior setter Leslie Kuhn notched a double-double of 55 assists and 11 digs for UWGB.
For the match, UW-Green Bay hit at an impressive clip of .342 (71 kills, 17 errors, 158 attacks), while UIC connected for .132 (50 kills, 30 errors, 152 attacks).
With the victory, UW-Green Bay improves to 14-5 overall and 4-1 in Horizon League action, while UIC's losing streak extends to six and drops to 7-14 on the campaign and 0-6 in league play.
Senior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd led UIC with a double-double of 18 kills and 12 assists, while Kristi Herrington (9 kills) and Camille Mankus (17 digs) each turned in solid efforts for the Flames.
UIC will be back in action on Tuesday evening, as they will travel to Charleston, Ill., to square off with Eastern Illinois at 7:00 p.m.
