Volleyball Rolls Past Quinnipiac In Three Sets

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC volleyball team coasted to a three-set sweep (25-17, 25-23, 25-7) over Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon at the Flames Athletic Center. Katerina Hanackova led UIC with eight kills and nine digs. Katarina Nedeljkovic picked up a season-high three blocks in the win. Alyssa Naylor paced QU's offense with eight kills. Quinnipiac found themselves down by three points early in set one, but responded with a 6-1 run to take its first lead of the match. The Flames turned on the heat following a timeout with a 13-4 burst to capture set one, 25-17. UIC controlled set two until the Bobcats went on a 7-2 run to get within one point (22-21) late in the frame, but the Flames rallied to take a 2-0 match advantage with the 25-23 win. After the 10-minute break, the Flames exploded offensively in set three with a .571 attack percentage. UIC also held Quinnipiac to just seven points on its way to clinch the sweep (25-7). The Flames face Milwaukee on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. on the road.
