CHICAGO - The UIC volleyball team (9-10/2-2 Horizon League) handled Eastern Illinois (3-14/0-4 Ohio Valley) in straight sets (25-19, 25-12, 25-17) Wednesday inside the Flames Athletic Center. Senior Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) had 13 kills without a single error for a hitting percentage of .812.

"Coming off of the weekend, we had nice practices Monday and Tuesday," head volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley said. "It was good to come out tonight to get a win, and now we have to get back in the gym to prepare for Green Bay and Milwaukee this weekend."

Dismuke's .812 hitting percentage (13-0-16) bests her .762, which was set Sept. 22 against Wright State. It also ranks third in the program record book for single-match attack percentage.

The Flames dominated the Panthers across the board. UIC posted 44 kills (.312) to Eastern Illinois' 25 (.042), while also outplaying the Panther squad in assists (42-14) and digs, 42-24.

Senior Nicole Allgood (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) also had 13 kills on the night and posted a .478 hitting percentage, while chipping in eight digs to pilot the Flames to the victory. Senior Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) was one kill and one dig away from a double-double as the outside hitter logged nine in each category.

In the first set of play, UIC had 17 kills (.314), while junior setter MaryKate Imrie (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) handed out 15 assists to lead the Flames to a 25-19 win in the game. The Flames then improved to a 25-12 win in the second set, before securing the match in straight sets with a final 25-17 win.

UIC returns to the court Friday as the team faces conference foe Green Bay inside the Flames Athletic Center at 7:00 p.m. (CT).
