Clemson, S.C. - Junior middle hitter Megan Hoffman turned in a flawless performance of 11 kills without any errors to help lift the University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team to the 30-26, 30-17, 28-30, 30-22 victory over East Tennessee State in the second match of the Clemson Invitational at Jervey Gym on Saturday morning.

Hoffman hit at an amazing clip of .407 (11 kills, 0 errors, 27 attacks) along with two blocks (1 solo, 1 assist) to pace the Flames offensive attack.

"Megan has been stepping up lately," UIC head coach Don August said. "She's been working hard, seeing the ball well and making good contact with the ball."

With the victory, UIC improves to 6-7 on the season, while East Tennessee falls to 1-11 overall.

Senior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd notched a double-double of 18 kills and 16 digs against East Tennessee State. She also tied a career-high with seven service aces, which ties her for the 10th most in UIC history for a single match.

The Flames also received solid efforts from junior middle hitter Kristi Herrington (13 kills, 6 blocks) and junior libero Jordan Studzinski (16 digs).

"We played with a lot of energy on the court," August said. "We played hard, with composure and in control for the most part."

UIC will be back in action tonight at 6:00 p.m., as they will square off with the host Tigers for the Clemson Invitational championship.
