    MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The UIC volleyball team (6-8/0-0 HL) concludes the Tiger Invitational with a 2-2 record as the Flames dropped 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 23-15, 25-11) to Belmont (4-9) inside the Elma Roane Fieldhouse Saturday in Memphis, Tenn. Maggie Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) collected 35 digs in the match, while MaryKate Imrie (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) was named to the all-Tiger Invitational team.

    Imrie, who dished out 30 assists in the match was named to the all-tournament team. The junior setter handed out a total of 182 assists on the weekend, including 45 against Memphis, 53 against Alabama A&M and 54 versus the Ragin' Cajuns.

    Strus, who had 28 digs in the win against Louisiana-Lafayette bested her performance by capturing 35 against Belmont.

    Senior Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) logged double-digit kills in each match during the weekend. She had 10 against Belmont, while posting 58 on the weekend. She earned 14 against Memphis and Alabama A&M, and 20 in the win over the Ragin' Cajuns.

    Senior Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) also chipped in an additional 10 kills in the match.

    The Flames won the third set in a 25-23 outcome to place the score at 2-1. Safranek and Dismuke posted three kills apiece in the win.

    The Flames return to action Friday as they open conference play against Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Flames Athletic Center.
