Middle Tennessee State Sweeps Volleyball in Blue Raider Bash

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee State swept (30-24, 30-13, 30-14) the UIC volleyball team (3-7) on Saturday afternoon in the Blue Raider Bash Invitational. The Flames look to tonight's final matchup against Miami of Ohio to conclude the three-match event at 7:30 p.m.
After trailing Middle Tennessee State early in game one, the Flames battled back to take a 13-10 advantage. The Blue Raiders posted three consecutive points to tie the game (13-13), but UIC recorded two consecutive kills from Amanda Kenny and Ambria Springer for the two-point lead. The teams exchanged points before MTSU took its third advantage of game one, 23-21. The Blue Raiders then sparked a 7-4 run for the 30-24 win.
Middle Tennessee State powered forward, taking a five-point lead (5-0) to start game two. Lana Lobdell ended the run on a kill assisted by Katie Kozak. The Blue Raiders held the Flames to a .034 attack percentage, while owning a .552 clip for the 30-14 victory.
Posting 16 kills and a .333 hitting percentage, the Blue Raiders grabbed the sweep with a 30-15 win in game three.
The Flames will conclude tournament play this evening when UIC takes on Miami (OH) at 7:30 p.m.
