Chicago, Ill. - Volleyball captured the UIC Invitational championship after completing a three-match sweep with a victory (30-23, 30-18, 30-18) over Elon on Saturday night. Sophomore Katerina Hanackova was named the tournament MVP with another stellar performance against the Phoenix.

The outside hitter notched a double-double with a team-high 13 kills and 11 digs, while freshman Taylor Szatkowski led the squad on defense with 15 digs. Senior Amanda Kenny was named to the all-tournament team after totaling 12 kills and nine digs.

Sophomore Lana Lobdell also earned all-tournament honors with a team-best .625 attack percentage. The middle hitter notched a team-high 10 blocks in three matches.

Jessica Barrow paced Elon with seven kills and Emily Lucci tabbed a team-best eight digs.

The Flames held Elon to a .073 attack percentage and forced the team to commit 12 errors in route to a 30-23 victory in game one. Kenny and Hanackova combined for 10 of UIC's 14 kills.

UIC continued to dominate on both sides of the net in game two. The Flames posted a .361 clip and tabbed 18 kills to take a 2-0 advantage over Elon (30-18).

The Flames completed the sweep and captured the invitational championship with a 30-18 victory in game three.

UIC continues home action on Tuesday, Sept. 11 against Northern Illinois at 7:00 p.m. The Flames open Horizon League play in a RED OUT matchup versus Milwaukee on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 p.m.
