    CHICAGO - The UIC volleyball team improved their record to 4-0 in a 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-23) come-from-behind victory over cross city rival, DePaul, to advance to the championship match of the Chicagoland Challenge.

    "I thought we played well," said head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. "Everyone was playing hard tonight, and we will be ready to get back to work tomorrow."

    The Flames (4-0) fell to the Blue Demons in the first set by a 25-23 decision, before regaining control and winning the second, third and fourth sets.

    UIC controlled the board in kills as they hammered down 60 during play, in comparison to DePaul's 47. Additionally, the Flames squad led .538 in hitting percentage during the third set, in comparison to the Blue Demons, who settled for .227, which led to UIC handling the DePaul team in a 25-14 outcome.

    The fourth and final set between the teams was similar to the first set, but with the opposite outcome as the Flames were able to conclude the match with a 25-23 victory.

    Freshman Sara Sternard (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Westmont) had 15 kills during the match for a clip of .609, and tied junior Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South), who also slammed down 15 kills, while adding six digs and three service aces during the evening.

    Sophomore MaryKate Imrie (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) earned her third double-double of the season as she dished out 52 assists, while picking up 10 digs.

    The Flames return to action Saturday in an 11:00 a.m. match against Montana State at the Flames Athletic Center, before resuming the Chicagoland Challenge in the championship match against Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. DePaul is set to face Loyola in the consolation match at 5:00 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action with live statistics and a live web stream through
