    Chicago, Ill.- Sophomore Katarina Nedeljkovic's match-high 22 kills helped the UIC volleyball team notch their first win of the season on Saturday, as the Flames downed Denver by a 30-26, 26-30, 30-24, 2530, 15-13 at the Flames Athletic center.

    A resilient UIC (1-4) continually held off a furious Pioneer rallies throughout the match, as Denver won the second and fourth games to force a decisive fifth frame.

    A nail-biting back-and-forth fray between the Flames and Denver (1-2) in the final game was eventually captured by UIC in a 15-13 clincher.

    Katie Kozak pitched in 60 helpers and 11 digs, while Ambria Springer narrowly missed another 20-kill performance with 19 kills.

    The Flames cap off the UIC Invitational tonight with a match versus James Madison beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Flames Athletic center.
