    Huntsville, Tex. - Junior setter Meghan Keck set a new school record with a hitting percentage of .900 (9 kills, 1 error, 10 attacks) and dished out 32 assists to help the University of Illinois at Chicago to the 30-12, 30-20, 30-24 victory over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday morning at the Sam Houston State Invitational.

    "We were pretty much in control for the whole game," UIC head coach Don August said. "We were very sharp and Birmingham-Southern wasn't."

    With the victory, UIC improves to 2-1 on the season, while Birmingham-Southern falls to 1-2 on the campaign.

    As a team, UIC hit at an amazing clip of .324, while Birmingham-Southern could only manage .019.

    Sophomore middle hitter Kristi Herrington also tied for the team lead with nine kills and six block assists, while junior outside hitter Lindsey Filkins (16 digs) and sophomore libero Jordan Studzinski (13 digs) each turned in solid efforts.

    UIC will be back in action tonight, as they will square off with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7:30 p.m.
