Amy Zabojnik will be moving a few seats over on the UIC volleyball bench this season.
The Berywn, Ill., native, after all, will enter her first season as the Flames’ student assistant coach this season after being a member of the squad over the past four seasons.
Zabojnik got a taste of life on the bench last season, as she was unable to play her senior year after tearing her left anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and meniscus in her knee. She spent the 2001 campaign keeping stats and assisting with pre-game warm-ups.
In her three years of service as a member of the volleyball team, Zabojnik was one of head coach Don August’s most trusted reserves. The Morton West graduate turned in her finest season as a junior as she totaled 68 kills, 62 digs and 10 blocks.
Zabojnik, a secondary education/math major, is on track to graduate in May of 2004.
