2002: Named to the Verizon Academic All-District V second team…selected to the Horizon League Fall Academic All-League Team…missed nine matches due to dislocated shoulder…finished the season with a hitting percentage of .275 (225 kills, 76 errors, 542 attacks), which is good for eighth in UIC history…finished career with a hitting percentage of .258 (679 kills, 237 errors, 1,711 attacks) which is good for fifth in UIC history…named the MVP of the UIC Invitational…recorded a team and career-high 17 kills to lead UIC to the three-game sweep of Binghamton on September 7th…helped UIC clinch a tie for third-place in the Horizon League with 17 kills and a career-high six block assists to lead the Flames to the five-game victory over UW-Green Bay in the final regular-season match…notched a season-high hitting percentage of .522 (13 kills, 1 error, 23 attacks) in a five-game victory over Stony Brook…garnered nine double-digit kill performances over the campaign.
2001: Named to the Horizon League All-Academic team…turned in a team-season and career-high hitting percentage of .560 (16 kills, 2 errors, 25 attacks) against Southeast Louisiana on September 8th…her 16 kills against SE Louisiana marked the most kills for the Flames in a three-game match…led the team with a hitting percentage of .259 (min. 100 attacks)…that percentage was good for the tenth best in UIC history…led UIC in kills in seven out of the Flames’ 30 matches…garnered a career-high 17 kills against Loyola on October 26th…recorded a career-high three solo blocks against IUPUI on October 16th…attempted a career-high 42 attacks against Loyola on September 28th…was second on the team in kills (293) and total blocks (79)…is currently tied for eighth in school history with a hitting percentage of .250…earned All-Tournament Honors at the Air Force Invitational.
2000: Appeared in 17 matches for the Flames…set personal single-season highs in kills (98), attack percentage (.244), digs (28) and blocks (43)..tabbed a career-best 14 kills in UIC’s four-game win over Cleveland State on Oct. 21…posted double digit kills on one other occasion – vs. Oral Roberts on Oct. 19…set new personal-high with six total blocks at Wright State on Oct. 13…finished fourth on the team in blocks with 43…tallied a season-high four digs in a trio of matches – vs. Bradley (10/9), at Butler (10/14), vs. Cleveland State (10/21)…had arguably her best match of the season on Oct. 21 versus the Vikings, recording 14 kills, four digs and five blocks in the Flames’ win.
1999: Named to the MCC All-Newcomer team following her freshman campaign…led all UIC freshman in kills with 63 and blocks with 24…saw action in 19 matches…while filling in for the injured Jill Greer, she tabbed a double-double versus DePaul on Oct. 13, setting career highs with 12 kills and 10 digs…also served up a career-high two service aces in the match…registered six kills, a career-best two assists and two blocks against Tennessee State on Sept. 18…on three occasions recorded a career-high three blocks – versus Chicago State, Valparaiso and Bradley.
Prep/Personal: Captained both the Lockport High School volleyball and basketball teams her senior season...led the Porters volleyball team(25-12) to a regional title in 1998, with a team-best 86 blocks and 42 service aces, as well as 203 kills and 114 digs...had similar success as a junior heping Lockport to a 32-6 record and a sectional championship...named All-SICA West in both volleyball and basketball as a senior...averaged 6.3 points and 5.4 rebounds on the hardwood last year aiding in the Porters' run to a regional title...an Illinois State Scholar recipient, she also earned the SICA West Scholar Athlete Award, President's Education Award, as well as Herald News All- Academic-Athletic Team and WGN Academic Athlete of the Week honors...daughter of Ron and Lynda Caneva...born on July 24, 1981...majoring in Liberal Arts.
