Volleyball Adds DePaul to Schedule; UIC Invite Match-Ups Announced

The UIC volleyball team made a local addition to its 2013 schedule, which was released on UICFlames.com last week. The Flames will face cross-town rival DePaul at the Flames Athletic Center on Wednesday, Sept. 25 beginning at 7:00 p.m. CST. The complete match-ups for the annual UIC Invitational have also been revealed.
2013 Volleyball Schedule Released

The 2013 UIC Volleyball schedule was released Friday, a slate that features 11 home matches, including the annual UIC Invitational in early September. The Flames will also make non-conference tournament trips to Navy, Iowa and Kent State prior to the beginning of Horizon League play.
Three Volleyball Members Honored With CSSLA Award

MaryKate Imrie, Sara Sternard and Justine Garcia were all honored at the annual Chancellor's Student Service and Leadership Awards (CSSLA) program. The three were recognized for being outstanding leaders and student volunteers, who maintain high academic achievement.
SAAC Announces Officers for 2013-14 Academic Year

UIC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently announced its officers for the 2013-14 academic year. Volleyball player MaryKate Imrie will remain as SAAC President, while swimmer Anne Jacobsen and volleyball player Sara Sternard were voted in as Vice President and Secretary, respectively. Elections were held at SAAC's end-of-the-year meeting last week as the committee concluded activities for year.
Volleyball's Katie Schumacher-Cawley Earns Contract Extension

UIC Director of Athletics Jim Schmidt announced a four-year contract extension for UIC head volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley Monday. The extension, which is pending University Board of Trustees approval, will keep Schumacher-Cawley as the Flames' leader through 2017.
Angelos Karkalis, MaryKate Imrie Named to HL Fall All-Academic Teams

Men's cross country runner Angelos Karkalis and volleyball standout MaryKate Imrie were both named to the Horizon League's 2012 Fall Academic All-League Teams. The duo both earned All-Horizon League honors last fall in leading their respective teams to second-place finishes at the League Championships.
