The UIC volleyball team (4-8) is set for a trip to Pennsylvania this weekend (Sept. 19-20) to compete in Penn State's Alumni Classic. Penn State head coach Russ Rose welcomes UIC head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley and three other Penn State alumni head coaches to campus for the tournament.
The UIC volleyball team (4-8) fell to Northern Illinois (7-4) Tuesday night at Victor E. Court by a score of 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 25-17). The Flames put down more kills than the Huskies (56-51) but could not overcome 14 blocks and seven aces by the Huskies.
The UIC volleyball team (4-7) will make the 65-mile trip to DeKalb Tuesday night to take on Northern Illinois (6-4). UIC and NIU have met 37 times, most recently in 2012 when the Flames defeated the Huskies over four sets in Chicago.
The UIC volleyball team (4-7) dropped both its matches on Saturday but still placed second at the UIC Invitational inside the Flames Athletic Center. The Flames fell to first-place Buffalo (7-3) 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 25-27, 25-12) in the first match and suffered a 3-2 defeat (17-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-9) to Western Illinois (2-8) at night.
The UIC volleyball team (4-5) won its first two matches of the UIC Invitational Friday as the Flames defeated Indiana 3-2 (25-23, 25- 21, 23-25, 23-25, 18-16) in the morning and Eastern Kentucky 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-14, 25-11) at night. UIC wraps up tournament play Saturday with a noon match against Buffalo (5-3) and a 7 pm contest against Western Illinois (1-7).
The UIC volleyball team (2-5) is set to host the UIC Invitational this weekend (Sept. 12-13). Over two days, UIC will entertain Indiana, Eastern Kentucky, Buffalo and Western Illinois at the Flames Athletic Center.
