Sternard & Ehrhardt Named Illinois National Guard Student-Athletes of the Week|

CHICAGO--UIC volleyball player Sara Sternard and women's cross country runner Tess Ehrhardt have both been selected as the Illinois National Guard UIC Flames Student-Athletes of the Week for the period Nov.11-Nov.17. Sara ends her season being named to the All-Horizon League Team and Ehdhart earned a spot on the All-Region team.
Sternard played in 109 matches this season and led her team in kills (329) and total blocks (80). She also recorded 18 double-digit games and five-plus blocks three times. She ended the season with an attacking percentage above .400 nine times, helping her rank in the Horizon League with a .293 clip. The Clarendon Hills, Ill. native also ranks seventh in the conference with 3.02 kills per set. Other honors that Sternard has received on the season includes being named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 14 as well as being selected to two all-tournament teams early in the season.
This marks Sternard's first time being honored as the Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week, but the second volleyball player on the season.
Ehdhart competed with her team at NCAA Midwest Regional over the weekend in Ames, Iowa. The junior placed 24th in the 6K race with a time of 21:06.80 earning a spot on the All-Region team. The Geneva, Ill. native ends the season with an accumulation of numerous accolades. In October, she was named Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the month. She was titled Horizon League's Women's Athlete of the Year and made the All-League First Team, and also named the Horizon League Runner of the Week for three consecutive weeks.
This is Ehrhardt's third time being honored as the Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week for the season.
