Chicago, Ill. - The University of Illinois at Chicago cross country teams received a boost on Tuesday morning, as they found out that four Flames runners earned All-Horizon League honors following the Horizon League Championships on Saturday.

Junior Jenni Goebel earned First Team honors after finishing fourth overall, covering the 5K course in 18:02, in leading UIC to a third-place finish in the team race, the best team finish in school history.

Also for the women, sophomores Lizet Diaz and Sara Jeffers were awarded with Second Team honors. Diaz ran to a 12th-place finish in 18:34, while Sara Jeffers finished 14th in a time of 18:42.

On the men's side fifth-year senior Danny Smith was rewarded with Second Team honors after a fine race in which finished 12th in a solid field. Smith covered the difficult 8K course in a personal-best of 25:22 to lead the Flames to a fifth-place tally.

The top seven finishers in each race earned First Team honors, while those finishing 8-14 were names to the Second Team.

The Flames will compete again on Nov. 16 at the NCAA District V Championships hosted by Illinois State.
