Cross Country At Horizon League Championships This Weekend Oct. 31, 2008
Chicago, Ill. - Following one weekend off of competition, the UIC cross country team heads to Green Bay, Wis. for the 2008 Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1. The men's race is set to start at 11:00 p.m. CST, while the women's event will be run at noon. The UIC women finished fifth out of ten teams in 2007. The men's squad came in seventh place in a pool of nine teams. Alex Sutphen, Brian Denk and Sam Kehoe have each led UIC in one race this season. Sutphen paced the squad on back-to-back weekends, while Denk earned UIC's highest individual finish of fourth place at the DePaul Season Opener on Aug. 30. Toni Ogundare has been impressive in her first season with the UIC women's team. The freshman has posted three top finishes her rookie season. Transfer Kristen Heckert also took a top spot for the Flames in their season opener with a team-best 11th-place finish at the DePaul Opener. The men are coming off a fourth-place finish out of 12 teams at the Bradley Classic on Oct. 17. The women's squad placed 13th out of 15 teams. The NCAA Regional meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15 in Stillwater, Okla. at 11:00 a.m. CST.
