Kenosha, Wis.- The UIC cross country team concluded competition at the UW-Lucian Rosa Invitational Saturday afternoon.  The men placed eighth and the women finished 10th.

"I couldn't have been more proud of Tess", said head coach Knoedel.  "She ran the fastest time of her career on the toughest course. It indicates that she will cut a lot more time off when we get a flat course like we will see at the Horizon League meet.  She is one of the premier runners in the Midwest."

Junior Tess Ehrhardt set a personal record during the 5K race this weekend, beating her previous record by a full nine seconds.  Ehrhardt paced the women's team by placing second among 294 total runners with a time of 17:35.7.  Also setting career bests on the Parkside course were Lauren Lindholm and Rebecca Zaiter earning times of 18:32.6 and 18:48.1, respectively.

On the men's side, Photis Karkalis led the team to an eighth-place finish with a time of 26:10.9.  Close behind were Kyle Hauser (26:28.1), Angelos Karkalis (26:32.0), Arash Darbandi (26:36.8) and Tom Kohs (26:43.8) who placed within the top-100 runners.

"Sometimes an athlete's effort goes unnoticed in a race but my unsung hero of the meet was Junior Tom Kohs," said Knoedel.  "He gave it 100% every step of the way and I hold his efforts up to the rest of the team as what I want to see each week."

The Flames continue competition on Saturday Oct. 19 at the ISU Pre-National Invitational, set to begin at 10:00 a.m. CT.
