Chicago, Ill.- Senior Laura Macias continued to dazzle for the UIC women's cross country team, placing fifth overall with a 5,000-meter time of 18:04 to lead the Flames at the 34th annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Avenue Beach on Saturday.

Macias has now led UIC in seven consecutive meets. Her time of 18:04, the fourth-best showing in UIC history, ties her previous career best in a UIC uniform that was set at last season's Horizon League Championship meet.

As a team the Flames finished 12th out of 19 teams.

Lisa Petty was UIC's second-best finisher with a mark of 19:30, while Susana Martinez finished the course in 19:46.

Rounding out the Flames' scoring effort were Korinne Krych (20:13), Danyelle Somerfield (20:21), Mary Kate Carrick (20:35) and Dena Zak (21:59).

UIC heads to the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill., on October 13th.
