CHICAGO- Kristen Heckert won her second Horizon League cross country runner of the week honor for her performance at the Illinois Intercollegiates, the league announced Tuesday.

Heckert won women’s 5K race at the event, covering the course in 17:37. Her time was a new personal best, and also put her at the head of the race’s 306 runners.

Heckert, a senior from Sugar Grove, Ill., was also named the league’s runner of the week for the first week of the season, after her overall win in the two-mile race at the UIC Home Opener Sept. 5.

The Flames will take a break from action this week and next head to the Notre Dame Invitational Oct. 2.
