CHICAGO, Ill. – The Flames men’s and women’s track & field teams will travel to Lisle, Ill. on Friday, April 25, to participate in the Benedictine Twilight.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. CT, in the field with the men’s hammer throw and women’s discus throw.

UIC will also be sending members of the team to Drake University on Thursday, April 24, to compete in the 105th Annual Drake Relays.  The meet is scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m., at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

The prestigious Drake Relays got underway on Tuesday, April 23, and will run through Sunday, April 27.  Roughly 8,000 collegiate and high school athletes will be participating at the oldest college meet in the U.S.  The meet will be held at the newly renovated Drake Stadium, which has the capacity to hold nearly 15,000 spectators.

In 2013, Jaime Johnson, Rebecca Zaiter, Emma Preston and Tess Ehrhardt ran in the women’s distance medley relay, crossing the finish line in 11:58.27.

In 2013 edition of the Benedictine Twilight, the men’s track & field team took home the first-place title for their first time during the outdoor season.  Senior Richmond Richter placed first in the triple jump recording a mark of 14.46 meters.

The Flames are coming off a solid showing from last weekend’s DePaul Invitational, where the men’s team secured third place (111), and the women placed fourth (48.50).
