    MACOMB, Ill. - The UIC men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up competition in the 27th Annual Lee Calhoun Invitational Saturday on the heels of nine individual top-10 finishes, including seven on the men's side.

    The Flames' men's team finished 12th out of 20 teams, while the women's squad took 11th of the 15 teams in contention.

    In the men's events, UIC recorded a pair of top-five finishes, with Angelos Karkalis collecting a fourth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run (3:59.94) and Justin Higginbotham placing fourth in the triple jump (14.27 meters). Additionally, Seyi Ogunleye took seventh in the triple jump (13.66 meters), while Anthony Hollingsworth (22.13 seconds) and Roy Mwale (49.56 seconds) both finished eighth in the respective 200-and 400-meter dash.

    Other standout performers on the men's side included Gunnar Sterne in the 1,500-meter run (4:03.03; 10th) and Marcus Garcia in the 3,000-meter run.

    In the women's events, Sharon Mwale claimed a fourth-place finish in the 1,500-meter (4:45.28) and Tess Ehrhardt finished 8th in the 1,500-meter run. Finally, freshman Lauren Lindholm collected an eighth-place tally in the 3,000 meter, crossing the finishing line in 10:654.95.

    Both the men's and women's teams will make the trek to DeKalb, Ill., to take part in the Huskie Open next Saturday (April 20).
