Track & Field Completes Action at Chicagoland Championships

Romeoville, Ill. – The men’s and women’s track & field teams concluded competition at the Chicagoland Championships Saturday evening.  The women’s squad finished seventh with 54 points, and the men’s team compiled a total of 73 points finishing third.

The women were dominated on the track by freshman Imani Dixon during her second-place performance in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.56. 

Teammate Tess Ehrhardt placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run crossing the finish line in 4:46.91. 

In the field, Latreesha Washington took home third-place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35 meter.  Teammate Ariel Gibbs earned a mark of 5.67 meters in the long jump.  

Junior, Lauren Lindholm competed in the 10,000-meter run finishing in third-place with a competitive time of 36:55.97. 

On the men’s side, senior Angelos Karkalis took home top honors in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.46.  Teammate Gunnar Sterne also competed in the 800-meter finishing with a time of 1:59.54.

Kyle Hauser and Photis Karkalis ran in the 1,500-meter run finishing first and fourth with times of 4:00.82 and 4:03.59, respectively. 

The men’s squad placed first in the 4x800 meter relay (7.46.51) with contributions from Lucas Beltran, Photis Karkalis, Angelos Karkalis and Gunnar Sterne.

Seyi Ogunleye finished with competitive marks in both the long jump and triple jump.  In the long jump, Ogunleye placed second with a mark of 7.05 meters, and first-place in the triple jump leaping 14.55 meters. 

The Flames will continue competition on April, 19 as they compete in the DePaul Invitational and Musco Invitational.
