INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Andrea Crump of the UIC women's track & field team was named the Horizon League Female Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced by League officials from their Indianapolis-based headquarters Tuesday afternoon.

Crump took first place out of 26 with an 11.99-meter triple jump at the Chicagoland Championships in Romeoville last weekend. The Glenview, Ill., native also finished second-place in a field of 30 in the long jump, posting a 5.58 meter distance that ranks second in the Horizon League this season.

"Andrea was frustrated with her performance at NC State and vowed to make up for it - she did in a big way last weekend at Chicagolands," said head coach Jim Knoedel. "I'm always amazed she is able to compete at such a high level despite the fact that she is in the Nursing school with demands that are very challenging. She is a joy to work with and so knowledgeable about the event that I call her Coach Crump."

Crump and the Flames will travel to the Lee Calhoun Invitational in Macomb, Ill., this Saturday (April 13).
