CHICAGO, Ill. – The men’s and women’s track & field teams will officially open the 2014 outdoor season Saturday as the Flames travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to compete at the Butler Invitational.  Saturday’s action is set to start with the men’s and women’s javelin throw scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. CT.

“The weather has really slowed down our field events due to limited practice opportunities, but we have done a lot of drilling so we hope the transition outdoors will be smooth,” said head coach Jim Knoedel.

Fourteen combined members of the Flames men’s and women’s squads will be making the trip to Indianapolis to compete in the first outdoor meet of the season.

“We are just taking a small group to Butler,” said Knoedel.  “ Weather plays such a large part of early season performances and we will definitely have temperatures that are less than perfect.”

The Flames will be competing against student-athletes from, Xavier, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Loyola-Chicago and IPFW.
