CHICAGO - This Friday, Feb. 17, the UIC men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams will be traveling to Milwaukee, Wis., to compete in the UWM Tune-Up at the Klotsche Center. Other teams that will be competing in the event include Marquette, Bradley, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and the host team, the Milwaukee Panthers.

"I always look forward to this meet, because we are starting to taper the athletes, and we always see some good performances as a result," said UIC head coach Jim Knoedel. "We are coming off strong performances from last weekend, so I expect to see our team jump up toward the top of the Horizon League rankings."

At the one-day event, UIC will be looking to improve on its recent success at last weekend's Iowa State Classic and Chicagoland Championships, where the Flames produced 16 top-20 finishes, including two individual titles.

Freshman Tess Ehrhardt took home medalist honors in the 1-Mile Run (5:07.11), while senior Alexandria Warner finished first in the weight throw, tallying a toss of 18.00 meters.

The UWM Tune-Up is the final contest before the indoor Horizon League Championships. UIC will begin the outdoor season on Mar. 31 in West Lafayette, Ind., at the Purdue Invitational.

Competition in Friday's event is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. CST.
