Track & Field Wraps Up Day One of Weekend Split Action

Women's Chicagoland Championship Results GVSU Big Meet Results (Friday, Feb. 8, 2013) Schuh crossed the finishing line in 8.95 seconds in the hurdles, and also finished fifth in the long jump (5.12 meters). She was a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished seventh. Also tallying top-10 finishes at the Chicagolands were Emma Preston (5:09.95; 4th) and Grace Millhorn (5:20.82; 8th) in the 1-Mile Run, and the foursome of Schuh, Jennifer Johnson, Katie Wallace and Michelle Knapcyzk in the 4x400 relay (4:16.70; 7th). "Aimee (Schuh) is back to her hurdle form of two years ago," said head coach Jim Knoedel. "Each week she has shown improvement and I know she has more left. Emma Preston showed huge gains in the 1-Mile; I couldn't be more pleased with her effort. At the Big Meet, Tess (Ehrhardt) broke her own school record, and barely won her heat over Jaime Johnson. It was a good first day for us at both meets." At the highly-competitive Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., Ariel Butzine made her indoor debut, and finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:12.78). Rebecca Zaiter also finished 17th in the race (2:15.88), while Tess Ehrhardt took 26th (5:06.37) and Jaime Johnson crossed the finish line in 27th (5:06.39). Ehrhardt also finished 22nd in the 3,000-meter run (10:19.09). On the men's side, Anthony Hollingsworth took 19th in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 22.17 seconds. Ryan Blackmon finished 27th in the 400-meter dash (50.36), while Angelos Karkalis placed 31st in the 800-meter run (1:59.06). Seyi Ogunleye tallied the Flames' highest individual finish, placing fourth overall in the triple jump (13.88 meters). The men's events at the Chicagoland Championships will get underway Saturday at 10:00 a.m., and competition at the Big Meet will continue throughout the day on Saturday.
