Chicago, Ill. - Freshman Lauren Quinn made University of Illinois at Chicago women's track history on Friday night as the River Grove, Ill., native became the first female athlete to compete in the pole vault at the Maroon Mini Meet, hosted by the University of Chicago.

Quinn recorded a fourth-place vault of 7'1 ½" in her inaugural jump.

Stephanie Maisel was the only other UIC athlete to compete as the junior transfer finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 14:10.25.

UIC will be back in action on January 18, 2003, as they will travel to Charleston, Ill., to participate in the Eastern Illinois Open at 9:00 a.m.
