Normal, Ill. - The UIC cross country teams put a final stamp on their season on Saturday at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet, as the women's team finished 16th (417 points) in the 23-team field, while the men took 19th (522 points) in a 24-team competition at Illinois State University.

All-Horizon League performer Jenni Goebel paced the women with a 24th-place finish in 21:33 on the 6K course, while Lizet Diaz (65th, 22:20) and Sara Jeffers (98th, 23:00) also helped the cause.

By virtue of her top-25 finish, Goebel qualified for the All-District Team for the second-straight season.

Running in her final cross country meet of her collegiate career, senior Jessica Streit finished strong in 130th-place with a time of 23:42.

Jessica Pancoska was 134th in 23:46.

Optimism is high for the 2003 Flames, as the women's team returns its top three of Goebel, Diaz and Jeffers for next year.

On the men's side, a trio of talented Flames finished off their collegiate careers in valiant form.

Senior Rich Daubert led the Flames with a 71st-place finish with a 10k time of 31:50. Fellow seniors Joe Marren (97th, 32:!8) and Danny Smith (102nd, 32:23) also ended their cross careers with solid races.

Junior Tristan Roche will be the top returnee in 2003, as he finished 119th with a time of 32:53.
