Ogundare Leads Women's Cross Country Team In Indiana

Notre Dame Invitational Gold Division Results Notre Dame, Ind. - The UIC men's cross country team finished as the top contender in the Horizon League, while the women's squad finished 23rd at the 53rd running of the Notre Dame Invitational at the nine-hole golf course on Friday afternoon. Both teams competed in the Gold Division of the race. The men finished 17th, finishing ahead of Horizon League foes Valparaiso, Youngstown State and Green Bay. Alex Sutphen paced the men's squad, finishing 37th with a five-mile course time of 25:50 in the five-mile race. Sam Kehoe was 72nd, followed by Roger Pinon (78th), Brian Denk (126th) and Farrahadoon Durrani (153rd). Mark Riggs was close behind Durrani with a course time of 27:51 (157th). Tyler Hinckley rounded out UIC's runners in 179th (28:37). Toni Ogundare covered the 5K race to claim 81st, finishing with a time of 19:01. Danyelle Somerfield was 139th (20:01), while Mary Brennan came in 151st (20:21). Rosemary Gillam completed the course with a time of 20:59 (170th). Maritza Gomez fell behind Gillam in 171st (21:00). Florida State swept the team titles. The cross country team heads to Peoria, Ill. for the Bradley Classic on Friday, Oct. 17.
